Award-winning art on show in Buxton.

PAINTINGS demonstrating a wide range of talent and creativity have gone on show as part of Buxton and High Peak Art Society's annual exhibition.

The display at the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery was officially opened on Saturday by the Mayor and Mayoress of the High Peak, Derek and Audrey Udale.

Respected local artist Sandra Orme, whose stunning Peak District landscapes have delighted visitors to the Buxton gallery, was on hand to judge the 46 paintings, all produced by members of the art society.

"She remarked on the high standard of work and admitted that judging had been a difficult task," commented publicity secretary Vera Wyatt.
